2016 is coming to an end. Much turmoil has happened in the world this year. And much goodness. Let us bless 2016 and set the intention for 2017 that we will exude and experience good will toward all.
This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.

Headaches
"Beneath most headaches is a heartache." Mark Nepo Might that be true? I do not have many headaches, except sinus-related, but I do agree we must listen to the messages from our hearts. Is there something you need to say to someone? Is there someone, perhaps yourself, with whom you need to make amends? Let's do it and help our hearts and our heads.

Learn By Going
"I learn by going, where I have to go." Theodore Roethke Another way of saying --- just keep moving. Make one decision after another. Life will correct us if we go too far astray, or, at least, it will try to correct us. We will learn where we need to go by going.

Taking the Step
"If you come to a fork in the road, take it." Yogi Berra What a funny way to describe keeping on going. Yogi Berra does not say which fork to take, but - for heaven's sake - take one of them. Do not stay stuck. The people I see who are the most sad are the ones who are stuck, who cannot decide which fork to take. I don't think it matters too much which one we take -- as the Universe will bless us and work with us on whichever one, but do take a fork. Do keep going.

Being Content
"Be content with what you have." Lao Tzu It has taken me many years to be content with what I have, but I think that is human nature. In our young adult years, we usually are accumulating. Having accumulated many things, I am in the process of releasing things and being content with what I have. How about you?

Joyful Noise
"Make joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth" Psalm 98:4 Do you live in joy? I recently read a definition of joy -- that it is living knowing good will prevail. Einstein said a similar thing when he suggested we decide if the universe is friendly or not. Can we hold the hope together that good will prevail?
