Have a spooktacular Halloween. For those of you who acknowledge Halloween in any way, Happy Halloween. I once had a teaching position in which the elementary students were allowed to wear the costumes all day on Halloween. It was a day I enjoyed having early bus duty, seeing the ghosts and goblins emerge from the school bus. What are good memories you have of Halloween? |
This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.

Seasons
Might the seasons reflect inner conditions? What if the seasons of the year reflect inner conditions? Joan Borysenko seems to suggest they do, or at least that we can take advantage of what each season offers for inner growth. So, fall, it seems to offer the chance to slow down, harvest what we have learned, and ponder the options. |

Life as Steps
Life may be a series of steps. The steps are there. We just need to walk them. I am reading Biocentrism by Robert Lanza, MD. Fascinating -- but not easy -- read. The basic premise seems to be that everything, including us, is energy, and all energy is connected. hmmm |

Faith
Faith in what is unseen. We can never see what is beyond the curve in the road ahead. Will it be wonderful? Will there be a crisis to which we must respond? Perhaps it is good that we cannot foresee the future. |

Hope
Hope springs eternal. (common saying) It seems humans need to have hope. Something about which to be happy, to look forward to. With all the uncertainty in the world today it might be hard to have hope, but I think it is critical that we do. What are your hopeful about? |

Grief: A Long Process
Grief cannot be hurried.
I still do not have the energy, nor zest for life in the amount I usually enjoy. A friend who works in hospice says that is normal, but I am wanting to have more enthusiasm for fun and socializing.

Are We Important In The Scheme of Things?
"Say that we are a puff of warm breath in a very cold universe. By this kind of reckoning we are either immeasurably insignificant or we are incalculably precious and interesting. I tend toward the second view." Marilynne Robinson
Do you believe you are an important part of the universe? Has it ever occurred to you to consider life from the point of view of your not being here? Who would miss you?

Doors Open and Close
"When one door closes, another opens." common saying
Do you believe that when one door closes, another opens? It seems in my life I feel the need to completely close one door and honor what occurred during that phase in life, before another door can open for me. Professionally, I have learned that in a few months the office I use will no longer be available. So, what does that mean for me? A consideration. Do you consider options when one door closes? What might it mean for your life?
