"For me, I worked for years covering over sore lesions of esteem with agitations of accomplishment, til my heart was covered over with a thicket of achievements." Mark Nepo
I wonder if that is not the way most of us live. I know I certainly have. Tried to bolster my self esteem with accomplishments and achievements. It is a futile expense of energy. Not that accomplishments in themselves are bad; it is just ill placed when we try to build our self esteem with their scaffolding. Self esteem must come, it seems to me, from just learning to like oneself for who we are.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
