"September: a time to harvest."
We are almost to September, the month Dwane died. It will be one year, and it is only in the last couple months that I feel I am returning to myself. And, that has been with the help of medication for PTSD. Caregiving takes a toll. I did it with as much integrity and graciousness as I was able, and - even with my set of skills with my psychological degrees -- it took a toll. But, the good news is: time and good habits heal us. How are you doing?

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
