We are born, we live, we die.
The cycle of life as popularized in such films as Lion King. Birth. Life. Death. All a cycle of life. It is good to remember that.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.

Anniversary of His Death
One year ago today Dwane died.
What a lot has happened in the past year since Dwane's death. I have slowly recovered back more of myself. I was diagnosed with PTSD, put on meds, and I am now balanced, happy, stable and have returned to creativity. Life. Death. I am grateful for Dwane's presence in my life, and I look forward to what is next for me.

Letting Go
"Letting go is a central theme in spiritual practice." Jack Kornfield What does it mean to let go? As caregivers, perhaps it means to let go of the expectations others have of us, to let go of doing it all ourselves, to let go of denying our own needs and desires, and - eventually - to let go of the person for whom we have provided care, if that is a person with a terminal illness, like dementia. |

Today is Precious
"Let us try to recognize the precious nature of each day." The 14th Dalai Lama
Today is precious. You are alive. The sun has risen. The day will be full of a mix of experiences. We are so lucky to have been born. Let us take good care of this opportunity.
