"Therapy is two people sitting together for no reason but to figure out what is happening in the room." Mark Epstein
I love Mark Epstein's definition of therapy, and - as a therapist myself - I agree. He goes on to say what an extraordinary thing it is that we have this available to us today. He also gives gentle understanding to PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) saying he thinks most people either have PTSD or Pre-PTSD, because of the trauma of everyday life. I agree. He says a spiritual practice is not enough to deal with trauma, but it often takes medication and therapy. I agree.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
