This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.

My intention in creating this blog
My intention in creating this blog is to find meaning and purpose in this chapter of my life and to assist others living with someone with dementia by sharing what I learn. The goal and intention my husband and I have set is to have the highest possible quality of life we can create. I will share my experiences of living with and adapting for a person with dementia.

Gassho to you, Judith. I found your blog by setting up a Google Alerts news setting that emails me topics of interest. You weaving in of the Eightfold Path in your writing is wonderful and I am enjoying reading the archives.
ReplyDeleteI am a young woman, married to a mental health therapist, with two little boys, but as a Music Therapist, have been involved in working with people with dementia for some time.
I am currently doing some writing for an organization providing resources for family members taking care of their loved one at home. Perhaps this serves as more of a journal for you, but the information and insights you share is tremendous for someone reading also in your shoes.
So, nice to "meet" you:)
