"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives." Henry David Thoreau
Since researchers now say that over 90% of our thoughts are negative and redundant, it is obvious our lives could be improved by following Thoreau's advice. To change our chronic way of thinking, we must choose to think over and over the kind of thoughts which bless our lives. A technique I use is to think thoughts of gratitude -- chronically. Looking for and seeing what there is in my life for which to be grateful. Today I am grateful for a neighbor who is helping repair a broken door.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
