"It's a hard discipline to adopt -- and we can't do it all the time -- but let's try to greet each day as its own gift -- or its own trial, if its that kind of a day." Martha Whitmore Hickman
We will have days that seem like gifts, and days that seem like trials, but - perhaps - they are each gifts. I choose to think that suffering serves some purpose. I suppose I will have to wait until after death to check out this theory, but it serves me to look for the purpose in suffering, illness and loss.
Now, two month after the death of my loved one I feel less raw. My brain has stopped hurting. I finally slept fairly well last night. I am honoring my process, without getting mired in it.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
