"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." Howard Thurman
When I was in college, I - along with others - were encouraged toward teaching, because the world needed more teachers. And, indeed, there were job opportunities -- for a few years. Until the market was saturated because colleges were encouraging so many people to go into that profession.
What does that have to do with caregiving? Most certainly there is a need for caregivers currently in the world, but most who provide caregiving probably did not choose this. What would we be doing instead? I am not encouraging anyone to abandon their caregiving, just to consider where does your passion lie? Can it be found among the caregiving tasks?

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
