"A man who is very busy seldom changes his opinions." Friedrich Nietzche
What is Nietzche saying? Perhaps he is referring to the importance of reflection. Keeping busy seems to be a way to avoid reflection, and only with times of reflection can we consider if our beliefs and opinions are truly ours and ones that serve us. I heard a neuroscientist say recently that 90% of our beliefs are unconscious and are not ones that support our values. We can only know what we believe with reflection and consideration -- is our behavior in alignment with our values and goals? If not, there is probably an unconscious belief controlling our behavior.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
