Every crack is also an opening." Mark Nepo
I was talking with a friend about some rifts in various arenas of her life. We all have them. Sometimes the rifts are in relationships in families, sometimes in religious settings, sometimes in work environments. They are difficult to traverse. There are often strong feelings as people react out of fear, and hurtful words and actions can occur. These might be times of closure on the way that relationship has been. While that is painful, it is also hopeful -- because with every closure there is also a new beginning. Different, perhaps uncomfortable, but a new beginning.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
