"It takes an average of 18 months for Lewy Bodies Dementia to be diagnosed at this time." Medical Report on PBS
Wow. 18 months. It seemed forever in our case, but I don't think it was 18 months. Finally, research is being pointed at Lewy Bodies Dementia. It seems that has taken forever. Lewy Bodies Dementia is the second most occurring form of dementia, after Alzheimer's, and yet, largely unknown. There is even finally research being conducted to develop a medicine that will be specific to Lewy Bodies Dementia. This will probably not help anyone currently caregiving, but it is hopeful to those yet to come.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
