"If you are like me, you probably have some days of darkness now and then." Dennis Merritt Jones
As humans, we all have days of darkness, and this can be more pronounced when burdened with the caregiving for another person. People sometimes ask me how I do it. I am sure they are coming from compassion, but, really, isn't it just putting one foot ahead of another? I am so grateful for the many sources of support I have. I saw an alternative healer a couple days ago, and he fixed my back which had been compromised by too much lifting. I had lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. I talked with my son and step daughter on the phone. Support. Let's count the many ways we have support.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
