"On matters of style, swim with the current; on matters of principle, stand like a rock." Ben Franklin
There are some things that are very negotiable. Where to have dinner might be one. I have some definite preferences, but I can usually find something to eat wherever we might go. But, there are deeper truths, like how we will allow ourselves to be treated and how we treat others that is not negotiable. I like to think of something by asking the question: Is this worth standing up for? Let's not waste our precious energy on those things not worth defending -- we will need that energy for those things that are worth defending.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
