"Instead of cursing the darkness, light a candle." Thomas Jefferson
How many times do we humans complain and lament over conditions that - if we would take action -- could be quickly remedied? Many times I believe. I learned a valuable thing from my loved one. When something breaks, fix it. That might sound simple, but how many times do we just let something go? Or, is there a situation which causes us some difficulty, but instead of changing the circumstance, we just complain? Let us be quicker to light the candle -- make the needed changes.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
