"Thank you for all the colors of the rainbow." Mattie J.T. Stepanek
I was not aware of Mattie Stepanek until a friend lent me the book, Heartsongs, although that is surprising, as he was on the Oprah Show and seems well known. His poems are lovely. He started writing poetry at age 3 and wrote until he died of muscular dystrophy as age 14. His life is a lovely model for living. His poems sometimes reflect his sadness, but also give us a peek into how he found joy in life.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
