"Instead of cursing the darkness, light a candle." Benjamin Franklin
It is so easy to focus on what is not going right in our lives, and there probably always will be things not going right -- but it is far better for our health to focus on what is right. What do you like about the situation in which you live? What do you like about the people in your life? What is positive about your caregiving situation? For me, I love the beauty and silence of where I live, I enjoy the company of people who love me, and I am glad to support my loved one as he transitions from this world. So many things are right.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
