"Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe." Voltaire
Do you believe that good will come from all situations? Even dementia? For those of us who are caregivers for someone with dementia, we are probably hard pressed to believe there is goodness within this disease. It robs the person of who he/she is, it submits them to being physically dependent upon others, it replaces reality for them. What good could possibly come from this? Perhaps it is the difference our loved one makes in the life of a care provider. Perhaps it is for us to look at our own mortality. Perhaps it is for us to honor the many paths there are to exit from this existence. What might be the good in the caregiving situation for you?

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
