"Stress is a leading cause of disease. Peace of mind is necessary for healing." Dr. Joan Borysenko
No matter how much we strive to control our stress as caregivers, we will have periods when it seems too much: too much responsibility, too much to pay for, too many decisions to be made, too much work to be done by one person. A person was recently complaining to me that some water damage in his home was going to cost $8000 to repair. I replied that I pay $8000 every month for the care of my loved one. Puts things in perspective, perhaps. The money drain is a real issue and a cause for stress. How do you manage to handle the stress of caregiving?

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
