"Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share." Paulo Coehlo
Keeping in perspective that each of us has stopped for a moment to encounter each other helps me to handle caregiving someone who is dying. This will not last forever. He will be released from his pain. In the meantime, I can enjoy the encounter I have with him. I can meet him, love him and share with him when he is lucid -- otherwise I can just sit with him and hold his hand. It is important to me to make the most of this "moment" in time.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
