"To convince oneself that one has the right to live decently takes time." Eva Peron
While Peron is probably speaking of conditions worse than most of us endure, still it is true that to truly love oneself and know that one deserves good treatment takes time. Too much damage is done to our self esteem by systems, to include schools and family, that it takes time to undo that damage. Each of us has the right to live decently and well. I, like you, am always monitoring the care my loved one is getting, because he deserves to live decently and well too. What can we do to improve our own life and the life of our loved one?

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
