Type III Diabetes?!

"Many doctors now believe that dementia may be Type III diabetes." Dr. Christiane Northrup

I just heard Dr. Christiane Northrup say that dementia may be caused by a newly recognized type of diabetes, Type III.  Amazing!  She said that high blood sugar causes changes in the blood vessels, and may be the cause of the changes in the brain.  This is the best explanation I have heard for why there is more dementia now than ever.  I wonder if it may be the reason there are more of other types of disorders, such as autism, schizophrenia --- hmmm.  She said sugar is an opiate, and we seek it to dull some pain we are feeling.  She gave an example:  when we are feeling sad, we do not feel like going to eat some kale, we want ice cream.  Consuming sugar spikes our blood sugar and briefly dulls pain and boredom.  If sugar causes dementia, as well as diabetes, then we might want to consider limiting our intake of it.  And, avoiding sugar is tricky, as it is in many things, like soup and peanut butter.  I find I need to read the labels to avoid consuming more sugar.
