"God is not found in the soul by adding anything, but by a process of subtraction." Meister Eckhart
How true. I gave a talk at Unity Spiritual Center Sunday with a similar theme. It is the identification and release of the ego -- the will of the ego -- that seems to be our life's work. A friend recently told me an interesting interpretation of the incident reported in the Bible in the Garden of Eden. She said she had the new insight that in the incident of Adam and Eve acquiring knowledge, that is when we humans became enamored with our minds and fell out of our more natural state of being. Interesting interpretation! The ego does exist in our many, many thoughts, and it may be life's work to release those thoughts and the aspects of the ego which go with those thoughts. Over and over in life, this will be an opportunity. Like the Crucifixion and Resurrection Christians just celebrated, we participate in the crucifixion of our egos to allow ourselves to be resurrected into our more authentic selves.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
