"I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that do not work." Thomas Edison
That is a remarkable attitude to have in the face of what most humans would call failure. We, as caregivers, will have many failures -- just as all humans do. We will fail to meet all of the needs of our loved one in ways he/she would like. We will fail to be as patient and loving as we would like to be. We will fail because we are too tired to go on. Let us not consider these as failures, but as ways we have found that do not work for us. We are doing the best we can do -- the best any human can do. Let us be assured of that.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
