Advances in Alzheimer's Research

Doctors now say that substances in saliva may signal the first signs of mild cognitive impairment, which often leads to Alzheimer's.  Two drugs that soak up the amyloid plaques that are indicative of Alzheimer's show promise.  Women with mild cognitive impairment decline twice as past as men, which might explain why more women than men have Alzheimer's.  How well you did in school can be a good indicator of whether you will have Alzheimer's later in life, as the cognitive reserve created by the development of intellectual skills seems protective.
