"We need hours of aimless wandering or spates of time sitting on park benches, observing the mysterious world of ants and the canopy of treetops." Maya Angelou As caregivers, we probably do not allow ourselves the spate of time to sit on benches and observe the mysterious world of ants and the canopy of treetops, but we would benefit from making that time. For instance, last night was a meteor shower. Did you get to see it? I love watching and listening to the wind blow the branches of the pine trees surrounding our home -- it is as relaxing to me as being with the rhythm of the ocean waves. There is something about nature that is rejuvenating. Let's take time to enjoy it. |
This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
