"In our research we discovered that resilience on the little things is a good indicator of resilience on the bigger ones." Richard Davidson and Sharon Begley
Interesting to know that people have done research on this. I have observed it in life. People who are paralyzed or obsess about little things, are laid low by bigger things. Whichever place you are on this continuum of resilience, it can be improved. Having support of others is one way to improve resilience. So, too, is not obsessing about the little things. There is so much wisdom in the saying "Don't sweat the small stuff." Really. Don't sweat the small stuff, and almost all of the "stuff" is small. Perhaps that is a lesson for us who are caregivers for someone with a terminal illness. The dying process is not small stuff. Most everything else is.

This blog is written to provide information and support to persons who are providing care for someone with dementia. A first indicator of dementia is when someone has trouble doing a task once familiar and easy for them. If you have begun to be concerned about someone's memory or cognitive processing, help the person receive a physical exam, to include lab work, and an appointment with a neuropsychologist for an evaluation of memory and cognitive processing.
