What thoughts do you have when you visit your loved one?  It is an important consideration.  As we have entered a new stage of the dying process, I find myself calling upon Mother Mary.  In the religion of my childhood, Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is the one who shepards souls as they depart from this world.  I am taking a statue of her to be by the bedside of my loved one, and I know he is in her loving care.  It is not that Mary can replace one's idea of God; it is that she is that also, perhaps its feminine face.
